Tiilikainen leads the Academy of Finland funded project "Family Separation, Migration Status and Everyday Security: Experiences and Strategies of Vulnerable Migrants" (2018–2021) and is a partner at the collaborative research project "Relational Wellbeing in the Lives of Young Refugees in Finland, Norway and the UK" (NordForsk 2020–2024).
